The Easiest Way To Avoid Spam

What is the best way to stop getting spam?
Since the beginning of the Internet, one of the biggest problems has been controlling the volume of spam. The problem is so bad that billions of dollars have been spent on developing all sorts of anti-spam filters and other efforts to block spammers from reaching your inbox.
With all that money and effort, believe it or not, the easiest way to avoid spam is pretty easy... Get a second email address, and don't give your new (private) email address to ANY websites. That's where most of the spam starts. Every time you give your email address to a company or website, you are not only giving them permission to send you email, they are also likely to share or sell your email address to other sites. Before you know it, you are on hundreds of mailing lists and the flow of spam will snowball.
The key is that only you and your friends, family and co-workers will know your private email address. Everything else gets sent to a mailbox that you don't even need to read, unless you are looking for some kind of confirmation email.
I've got about 7 email addresses. Some of them are for my business, some are personal, and one in particular is my "Junkbox", which is what I use when I am forced to enter an email address on a website. That mailbox has thousands of unread mail in it at any given time, and I could care less. I only log in to that email account when I'm asked to look up or click a confirmation code. Otherwise, they can spam it all they want. I'll never see it.
