An Alarm For Smart Device Pairs, Separated By Mistake

A lot of gadgets today are designed to be paired with other gadgets. Wouldn't it be great if your gadgets reminded you when you left a paired device behind?
For example, if you leave your cell phone on a table in a restaurant, as soon as you walk away from the table, your Apple Watch should send you a signal letting you know it's no longer near your phone. This would save you a lot of trouble because you could find it before you drove away, saving you the trip back potentially hours later looking for it.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many devices today that are normally paired that could use a feature like this. For example, Google Glass, Bluetooth speakers, and exercise bands from companies like FitBit and Nike. In each case, when the connection is lost, it would make sense for both parts of the pair to send you a signal, just to let you know the connection was lost, and likely the other part of the pair has been left somewhere by mistake.
Taken to the next level, it would stand to reason that wearables like the Apple Watch or FitBit have the unique ability to let us know when we forget just about anything we pair with them, because we don't take off our watches until we're back home. So it would be easy for somebody to produce tiny Bluetooth based beacons that could be attached to things we don't want to lose, like keychains, umbrellas, or just about anything.
