Everyone has a Style, whether its in Fashion or not.

Every now and then somebody will tell me something I'm wearing isn't "In-Style" anymore, but that doesn't bother me, as long as it's my style. What they really mean is that my style is no longer in fashion.

Let's say you like wearing purple turtleneck shirts with polka dots. You've got tons of them and you wear them all the time, even though they're not in-style. Then one day you wear a yellow tank top with stripes. Anyone who sees that will say it's not your style, because it looks out of place on you. So for you, whenever you wear a purple turtleneck shirt with polka dots, everyone will say that's just your style.

Isn't AIN'T a Word?

It's in the dictionary, but we've all been told that Ain't... Isn't a word, but here's how it could be.

Every year, new words are added to the dictionary, because dictionaries are a reflection of the words we use every day, and for what it's worth, that's why "Ain't" is in the dictionary. Problem solved? Not quite, most English majors will tell you that it's still not a real word.

If you look at the way it's spelled, you can see the root of the problem. The apostrophe implies that its a contraction of two word, such as "Can't" is a contraction of Can and Not, however when you try to split Ain't into two words, you come up blank. Word Rant - Is That Made Of Material?

It drives me crazy when people use the word "Material" the wrong way.

I know I may sound a bit fussy, but as a scientific minded person, who happened to do some projects in the garment industry, I can't understand why so many people use the word "Material" almost exclusively to describe...FABRIC.

Let's get to the point. Things like your clothing, bedsheets, and curtains are made of fabric, NOT material. Okay, technically, they're made of material, but so is your desk, the walls, the floor, rubber ducks, and just about everything else, so to say something is made of material is simply the wrong term.

I'm not alone. There's an entire industry devoted to Materials Science that cringe when people get the terms mixed up.
