James Franco is the perfect actor to play Iron Man / Tony Stark.
When they announced that Robert Downey Jr. would play the part of Tony Stark, a lot of people were surprised. Downey was a bit of a risk because he wasn't known for action movies. To compound things, he also had a reputation as one of Hollywood's "Bad Boys" by frequently getting into trouble both on the set and in his personal life.
He proved everyone wrong. His smart-ass Playboy attitude was just right for the role and he went on to make 2 top grossing sequels and a key part of the successful Avengers movies.
Like most super heroes, he will eventually need to pass the torch to another actor... James Franco should be at the top of the list of possible replacements.
