Why don't pet sheltered animal rights ads use positive images instead of depressing images of abuse?
I don't know about you, but every time I see one of those depressing pet shelter ads on TV I have to look away or change the channel. I'm sure they've done studies to show that ads featuring abused animals potentially bring in more donations, but they've gotten to the point where I simply can't stomach them anymore.
What they don't realize is that there have been quite a few studies that show that negative ads often have the effect of reinforcing bad behavior because it makes viewers see that bad behavior is more common than it is. The last thing we need is some idiot validating what he does to his pets, because he's not the only one who does it.
