Upbeat Pet Shelter Ads

Why don't pet sheltered animal rights ads use positive images instead of depressing images of abuse?
I don't know about you, but every time I see one of those depressing pet shelter ads on TV I have to look away or change the channel. I'm sure they've done studies to show that ads featuring abused animals potentially bring in more donations, but they've gotten to the point where I simply can't stomach them anymore.
What they don't realize is that there have been quite a few studies that show that negative ads often have the effect of reinforcing bad behavior because it makes viewers see that bad behavior is more common than it is. The last thing we need is some idiot validating what he does to his pets, because he's not the only one who does it.
If the most popular videos on social media are funny animal videos, so why not use those kinds of images in their ads?
Everyone loves funny animal videos, so it's about time they realize this and make commercials people aren't afraid to watch. I'm sure that if people saw images of children playing with a rescue dog or cat they're going to make an impact.
Unlike negative ads, which make people feel like writing a check out of pity, positive ads will encourage more families to adopt a pet, which is a far better benefit to the shelters than money alone.
Videos like this make anyone look forward to adopting a new pet.
If you ask me, upbeat images like those are far more powerful incentives to support pet adoption.
