You Call THAT Cheese?

There's a big difference between American Slices, American Singles... and REAL American CHEESE.
If you go to the dairy department of just about every supermarket, you'll find bunch of products that say everything from "American Slices", "American Singles", to completely made up names like "Velveeta", but when you read the label, the one thing they're not allowed to call them is "American Cheese". That's because, they're NOT American Cheese.
They're made from milk, just like the real thing, but they're processed and have a completely different taste and texture.
The interesting thing about most of these processed cheeses is that although you often find them in the refrigerated section of the supermarket, most of them don't require refrigeration. They do that to give you the impression that they're fresh, which is the same reason you'll find soy and almond milk in the refrigerator.
I'm not debating whether they're healthful or not, but simply pointing out that they're NOT American Cheese and if you go to the deli counter and order REAL American Cheese, there's simply no comparison. REAL American Cheese simply tastes better.
