4 Reasons Why Paper Towels Should Be in All Public Restrooms

I don't care if dryers save energy in public bathrooms.
Whether you buy into all the hype about why dryers are better for the environment or not, the fact is many of us would rather use paper towels.
I don't want to hear about how paper towels kill trees. To me, that's nonsense, because every major paper towel manufacturer uses at least some recycled paper. Paper that is not from recycled sources is generally from paper mills that follow standards that plant multiple trees for every one they cut down. It's not only more responsible, but it's good business.
We can debate this and other reasons why dryers are "green", but there's still a lot of reasons why I hate them.
1. Some people, like me, like to wash their face too.
It's frustrating to wash your face in a public restroom, only to discover you have nothing to dry your face with. Some dryer companies claim you can dry your face with their dryers... but that's just plain stupid.
2. Dryers don't leave my hands feeling clean... or dry.
This one drives me nuts. I have yet to find a single hand dryer that fully dries my hands. Paper towels not only dry my hands better, but they also help rub off any soap or dirt that didn't come off in the sink.
3. Paper towels are MUCH faster.
With a paper towel, you walk up to the dispenser, grab a couple of paper towels, and you can dry your hands as you walk away. But with a dryer, you stand there shaking and rubbing your hands for a minute or two. If there are multiple people washing their hands, you often need to wait for them to finish before you can even start.
4. You can use your paper towel to open the door.
This one is the deal breaker. When I leave a public bathroom, the last thing I want to do is grab a door knob that feels damp from the last guy who used it. Moisture breeds germs, mold and mildew. I can't help but think about all the damp hands that grabbed the door handle on the way out, not to mention any moisture from the last guy who has bit of piss splashed on his hands. Either way, it's pretty bad.
Simply stated, there are times when I choose to use the dryer instead of paper, but at least give us the choice.
When I wash my face, I want paper.
When I'm in a hurry, I want paper.
When I have to pull the door to get out, instead of pushing it with my foot, I want paper.
If they can't change the door so you can push with your foot rather than pull, at least put hand sanitizer dispensers outside the door.
