Live DJs on some Pandora Stations

Radio without DJs?
One of the biggest reasons for the growing popularity of Internet and satellite radio is variety. For over 17 years, New York City didn't have a single country radio station. The same is true for a lot of music categories. Even though it's the largest radio market in the country, you'd have a hard time finding country, western, blues, big bands, 50's Rock & Roll and many other types of music unless you use satellite or Internet radio.
I started to listen to Pandora Internet Radio about 8 years ago, when they released their iPhone App, and I was immediately hooked because they have even more variety than SiriusXM Satellite Radio. That's because they have a nearly infinite number of "Stations", which are more like playlists lists of songs than a traditional station.
With Pandora, you can create a Station based on a category of music, an individual artist, album, or even a song. You could create a "Station" called "Dark Side of the Moon", and it will play songs that have the same general sound as Pink Floyd's classic 1973 album.
Because the programming is computer generated , they don't have any use for live DJs... or do they?
Although it's nearly impossible to have a live DJ on most stations, it would be great to have DJs on some of the more generic stations that are based on categories, such as Top 40, Country, Oldies, Classic Rock, etc.
There's something special about having a live DJ announce each song, talk to the listeners, and take requests. SiriusXM went out of their way to find top DJs for every music station, and the result is radio that feels like... radio.
While the custom stations should continue to play computer generated playlists without a live DJ, some of the generic stations based on popular categories should definitely have DJs, which not only makes the stations sound more alive and personal, they also build a sense of "now" as everyone in the country will hear the same thing at the same time.
