Bring Back American Bandstand

American Bandstand was an American Institution.
It's been a long time since ABC's American Bandstand went off the air. For many people it was more than just a weekly dance show featuring the latest music of the day, it was a snapshot of American culture in a neat little package.
If you wanted a snapshot of the latest music, dance, fashion, hairstyles, makeup and language of each generation, you didn't need to look any further than Bandstand to see it. Every week, the studio was packed with young people decked out in their trendiest outfits ready to dance to the latest music.
The best part of the show was when Dick Clark would talk to the dancers and ask them to rate the newest songs. Depending on the decade, typical responses would be that they thought it was "Swell", "Groovy", "Funky", "Far out", or "Out of sight". If the dancers gave the songs a good rating, had a good beat and was easy to dance to, you could be sure the song was going to be a hit.
Another great thing was seeing new artists before they were famous. I can remember seeing the Jackson 5 multiple times, including their first appearance in 1970.
Or the Beach Boys from 1964
Or how about this... Bon Jovi in 1984, when they were opening for the Scorpions.
Here they are a year later... as headliners.
The Doors
The Beatles in a phone interview in 1967
John Travolta interview from 1976
So if they bring it back... who would be the host? To me the answer is obvious, Dick Clark's favorite, Ryan Seacrest.
