Did Luke Skywalker Really Take down the Empire? I don't think so.
I love Star Wars, but the new movie opened up a can of worms because they seemed to be obsessed with finding Luke Skywalker, because everyone felt he was the key to ruling the galaxy. The only problem? It's not true. He had nothing to do with it.
Think about it. At the moment the new Death Star was destroyed, where was Luke? He was on the Death Star with Darth Vader and the Emperor. He wasn't involved in the battle of Endor, and he didn't have anything to do with the outcome which led directly to destroying it.
Although destroying Vader and the Emperor seemed critical to bringing down the Empire, the fact is they would've been killed when the Rebels eventually blew up the Death Star.
This means the true heroes were Han, Leia, and the Ewoks who disabled the Death Star's shields, allowing Lando Calrissian and the remaining X-Wing pilots to complete their mission.
If anything, Luke only served to hurt the Rebels when they landed, and he definitely had nothing to do with the outcome.
