Want to know how to get a Windows PC that doesn't SUCK? Get a Microsoft Signature Edition PC.
One of the most frustrating things about buying a new Windows PC is having to deal with all the bundled JUNK that comes with it. It doesn't matter what brand you buy. HP, Dell, Lenovo and just about every major brand today includes worthless programs that clutter your screen, and slow down your computer.
Unfortunately, most PC buyers are stuck with all that junk because they lack the skills to do anything about it. Even if they know how to uninstall programs, they can't tell which programs are safe to remove. For example, most of them come with a trial version of a major anti-virus, which they assume is essential, and they are warned they shouldn't remove them because they have an "Active Subscription".
The trouble with trial versions of an anti-viruses is when the trial subscription expires, they are forced to either pay for a subscription, or they'll end up with an outdated anti-virus which will no longer get updates, which is very dangerous. The safest thing is to REMOVE the trial version before the trial ends, so that the default (Microsoft) anti-virus can take over.
The reason most PCs come with all that bundled software is that most manufacturers have very low profit margins, so they earn when customers pay to activate or upgrade the trial software.
Thankfully, there is a solution. Get a Microsoft Signature Edition PC.
When you buy a computer directly from Microsoft, you get the same same computers, from the same companies, with one big difference, the Signature Edition doesn't include any bundled software, which means that a Signature Edition PC will not only look less cluttered, but it'll be faster and more secure.
Microsoft created the Signature Edition program as a direct response to frustration from customers who assumed Microsoft was responsible for the bundled software.
The key is to get your computer DIRECTLY from Microsoft.
Microsoft doesn't have a way to restrict manufacturers from including bundled software sold anywhere else, so it's important you get your PC directly from Microsoft. The easiest way to get one is to visit a Microsoft Store. If there isn't a Microsoft Store near you, you can order one directly from Microsoft.
Another option is to build your own PC and install Windows from scratch. It's a lot easier than it sounds. There are a lot of online and local retailers who specialize in selling individual components, or "Barebones" kits, which include everything you need in one box. One of the most popular online sources of Barebones kits is TigerDirect.
