A Desktop Computer That Can Survive A Blackout

Isn't it strange that desktop computers lose information in a blackout?
For as long as desktop computers have been around, one thing has never changed, if you lose power, even for a split second, you usually lose whatever you were working on.
Unlike laptop computers, which have a battery that lasts for hours, a desktop computer has no internal battery whatsoever, not even enough to handle the loss of power for even a fraction of a second.
My solution to this problem is to integrate two additional components directly on the motherboard, a small battery and a bit of flash memory. The battery would be very small, because it doesn't need to power anything but the motherboard itself. That's it. Both parts are small and inexpensive Here's how it would work.
If the motherboard detects a power outage, the rest of the computer, including the display and hard drives could completely shut down, but the battery would continue to supply power to the motherboard and the flash memory.
Once power is lost, everything stored in RAM would be copied to the Flash memory, which only takes a few seconds.
Once the power returns, the system would just load from the suspended state and it would return exactly where it left off.
Right now, desktop owners need to purchase big bulky standby power systems, which generate heat, take up a ton of space, and only provide a few minutes of extra power. My solution is much simpler, and it would prevent the computer from losing information, regardless of how long the power is out. Another benefit of integrating it directly into the motherboard is that it would work regardless of the operating system running on the computer. Whatever is running is saved, without any drivers or special software.

Flash memory used to be expensive
Back in the early days, it would've been too expensive to integrate a system like this into the motherboard, but today flash memory is dirt cheap.
