Dum Da DumOne of the great things about technology is that it gives people tools to tap into their hidden talents. For many musicians, Apple's Garage Band was a revolution, because it allowed anyone with a Mac to have the same production tools that were previously only available to big record companies only a few years ago.This meant that musicians could compose, record, mix, edit and distribute their own songs without the backing of a record company.Another great feature of Garage Band was that even people who couldn't play any instruments could create music using loops and other digital instruments. However, to truly compose a melody, you still need some skills that are too complicated for people without a musical background.The thing is, there are a lot of people with a real passion for music, who have never played an instrument, who would benefit from a way for them to use their voice to compose music.For these people, it would be great if Garage Band would let them use their voice to hum, sing, or make other sounds to compose musical notes. The idea is that Garage Band would not record the voice itself, but the notes they resemble. By using an AutoTune feature, Garage Band would naturally insure the notes fit together in the same key, but otherwise just translate them into regular musical notation, so they could then be played using one of the built-in electronic instruments.So, you could say "Dum Dum Dum... Dum Dum Da Dum... Dum Dum Dum.. Dum Da Dum", and then play them as an electric guitar that would be recognizable as the main riff from "Smoke On The Waters".Besides composing the main melody, layering other microphone / voice controlled sections like drums and bass would allow just about anyone to compose a song.
