Quick Swap Cell Phones - Swap Cell Phones Without Changing SIMs.

Sometimes you need a big phone. Sometimes you don't.
My primary phone is the latest generation iPhone 6 Plus. To me, it's about as good as it gets, but sometimes the size simply gets in the way.
For those days when a big phone is a problem, wouldn't it be great to just swap phones for the day, by moving your phone number to a second phone? Then you could switch back when you get home.
Technically, most phones have removable SIM cards, that let you do exactly that. You just pop the SIM out of one phone, and pop it into another and as long as they are on the same network, the number will ring your second line instead.
The trouble is, on some phones, swapping the SIM isn't easy. On an iPhone, you need to insert a pin into a tiny hole on the side and a little slot pops open, while on other phones you may have to remove the back panel and the battery to get to the SIM.
Compounding this, there are multiple SIM sizes, so you may need adapters to make smaller SIMs fit into larger slots. However, there is no quick way to put a larger sized SIM into a phone that uses a smaller size, without cutting it.
Rather than swapping SIMs, wouldn't it be easier if you could just swap the numbers using the carrier's web site, or by dialing an automated service?
This would let you use whichever phone you want without cracking them open. All the system needs to do is update which SIM number the carrier directs calls to. It shouldn't be something you need to either open the phone to do, or bring to a store.
All you would do is log in to the carrier's web site, and enter the SIM and serials numbers of all your devices, then click a button next to the one you want to use that day.
This not only makes swapping phones super easy, but it's great for the carriers because it means some people will buy multiple phones.
