Fight Losing Battles. The Real Meaning of Courage.

What do you do when you face a fight you know you can't win?
For many people, backing down is the only option. After all, nobody likes to lose, so why bother fighting a losing battle?
I've fought more losing battles in my lifetime than I can count. Most of the time, I lose.
The next time I face the same challenge, I'm wiser, and stronger, so I fight again. Most of the time, I lose.
Quote:
I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know that you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.
- Atticus Finch
From To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
Facing a challenge you can't win is not about winning or losing, it's simply about staying true to your beliefs. Even if your cause seems hopeless, you can't back down. Even if you don't win, at least you'll know you tried. You took action, and you made at least some effort.
I'd rather have the memory of losing a battle than years of regret for never having tried.
