America's Teams. Real National Teams With No Home Town.

Most people root for their home team. But what about towns without a local team?
Ted Turner coined the phrase "America's Team" for the Atlanta Braves. At first, I couldn't understand why. I'm a New Yorker, so as far as I was concerned, the New York Yankees had to be the most popular sports team in the country. Then I figured out why, and in a way, he was right.
Because every Atlanta Braves game was broadcast on his nationally syndicated channels, the Braves were the only team that anyone in the country could follow all season long, regardless of which city they were in. So, if you lived in a city like Las Vegas, that has no major league sports teams, there was a good chance you might follow the Braves.
Las Vegas isn't alone, there are a lot of of major cities without a major sports team, and countless smaller cities zero chance of ever getting one. So, why not create a real "National Team"?
Unlike most teams, a National Team would play their Home Games all across the country, giving big and small towns a chance to have major sporting events at least a few times a year.
Just think of the potential for entire states and smaller towns that lack major sports teams. Naturally, they would need a venue to play in, so most of these games would be played in college stadiums and arenas.
There should be a national team in every major sport... baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. Cities that want to participate would enter a lottery to determine where all the home games will be each season. Interest in the sport, the teams, and tourism for the cities would be a win-win for everyone involved, not to mention national TV rights and merchandising for the teams.
