Car Makers Should Eliminate Cigarette Lighter Ports

Why the heck do cars still come with those bulky 12 volt cigarette lighter ports?
Car cigarette lighter ports are completely outdated, yet for some reason just about every car made today has more cigarette lighter ports than they have USB ports. In fact, many cars don't even have a single USB port, which means that car owners have to buy clumsy adapters to plug in their modern devices.
There are very few devices today that require 12 volts, especially in the front seat, but the bigger issue is still that stupid plug. It's not only big, but it frequently breaks or pops out. You would think by now that car makers would come up with a more compact plug, that isn't likely to fall out.
