The Trouble With Facebook's Newsfeed

Here's what I HATE about Facebook's Newsfeed, and how they can make it better.
When Facebook first launched, items were listed in your Newsfeed in chronological order. It was a pretty simple system. Posts were displayed in reverse order, with the newest items on the top, and the oldest at the bottom. All you had to do was scroll down to read everything your friends, family and liked pages posted until you eventually reached the prior day's news. That's how you knew your were done.
As the volume of posts started to increase, Facebook changed the Newsfeed to an algorithm so that it only shows posts that Facebook's algorithm feels you're interested in. It bases this on your history of Likes, Comments, and Shares. So, the more you Like, Comment, and Share a cat video, the more cat videos you'll see.
The trouble with the new algorithm is that it's NOT consistent. Items shouldn't drop in and out as you scroll up and down.
I realize Facebook isn't likely to switch back to the old chronological algorithm, but it should at least be consistent within each session. It's frustrating to see an item that catches your attention disappear, whenever you scroll up or down to watch a video, post an update or make a comment on another item.
What the Newsfeed should do is post the items in the exact same order at least throughout the session, so that you can scroll up and down and still see the same items in their original oder. I realize the items still won't be chronological, but they should at least be in the same position they were when you scrolled away.
